Pentecost Sunday, May 11
May 11 is
Pentecost Sunday, the day the Holy Spirit descended on the early church
and the Apostles baptized more than 3,000 new believers. Because of
this, Pentecost is considered the Birthday of the Christian Church.
We will celebrate
Pentecost by wearing
RED,
the liturgical color for the season of Pentecost. After the second
service there will be a church picnic. Our wonderful Brotherhood of St.
Andrew will supply the meat course and families are asked to bring
salads and desserts. Yes, May 11 is also Mother’s Day but you know the
restaurants will be CROWDED and this way Dad won’t have to cook! There
are sign up sheets in the Parish Hall.
Don’t miss this
great day and don’t forget to
WEAR RED!
VBS Is Coming!

Vacation Bible School will be June 16-20. This year’s
theme is “Power Lab: Discovering Jesus’ Miraculous Power”. As always,
we are willing to share the fun with anyone who is interested in
volunteering! We need lots of folks for a variety of activities. If you
are interested in being part of this miraculous week, please call
Frances Reed at 729-1601, or Bonnie in the Church Office, 729-2649.

What a wonderful day, terrific facilities and great
leader at the Quiet Day on Saturday, April 5th at St. Bartholomew's in
Corpus Christi! My only regret was that no others from St. Peter's
attended. As I was unable to devote 3 days to attend the Women's
Retreat at Camp Capers I treated myself to this "day apart". Our
contemplative prayer centered on the Gospel reading for Sunday, April
6th, commonly referred to as the Walk to Emmaus. While I am not sure I
will be able to prepare in this manner every week, I have a greater
respect for the energy spent weekly by all clergy in creating their
sermons. Naturally I have notes for a quiet day at St. Peters and am
truly inspired by the temporary labyrinth which Fr. Andrew Thayer
created. Walking the labyrinth is so cleansing. Please read the
offerings on the bulletin boards in the Parish Hall and plan to attend.
You will be welcomed and refreshed.
